Why we run it
Not a race against the clock
Every year a few dozen of us meet on the promenade between Dasoudi and the zoo, run five kilometres, and then stand around eating cake. That is the whole event.
There is no fee, no qualifying time and no cut-off. Run it hard if that is your thing. Walk it with a friend if it is not. The cake is shared with everyone regardless of your result at the finish line.
The promenade stays open to everyone else while we run, so the one rule that matters is to give way — to other runners, to cyclists, to families out for a walk. Nobody’s morning should be worse because ours was faster.
